Who'd you buy your scooter insurance from?
« on: January 22, 2020, 10:42:20 PM »
My cars are insured through Progressive....placed my scooters there, too, for a bundled price.
I've heard that Foremost is good, too.
My Gulf War veteran son said I need to be looking at USAA for all my ins. needs. ?

I made darn sure that I have RoadSide Assistance with both scooters ($10). Covers jump start, flat tire, tow to closest dealer, etc.

We use mutual discount insurance exclusively such as State Farm and Allstate. Our bundle with State Farm was terminated for cause by us and we went with Allstate which was significantly cheaper. Progressive is a standard discount company and generally more to a lot more expensive than a mutual outfit.

For many years I was with GEICO until became angered by their increasing rates and learning, like Federal Reserve the name "Government Employees" was just a name for a private, non-federal, non-government operation. Marketing...also GEICO is a standard discount scheme.

We use Safeco for our home, cars, RV and scooters.  You can only have 3 scooters/motorcyles on the policy so we have a separate policy for the remaining scoots.

Progressive (via USAA).
Quickly learned Roadside Assistance is worth it after getting a flat 20 miles from home.
Added motorcycle insurance w AAA, as it covers tows much longer than Progressive, at just $35/yr.

John Grinsel, how did USAA screw you?
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

Just a thought.….I used my wife's family friend for insurance for decades. Then one evening I used the Dell to checked his prices.
I now know who purchased that pool in his yard. But, I'm no longer paying his "pool boy" to clean it, and his kid in Harvard may be transferring to Community State U. now.

With the discounts the last scooter I insured the Lambretta uno 150 was $66 dollars a year for full coverage.  I did not feel that was unreasonable.  I know several friends that hop around to get the best deal. Inevitably they offer a low introductory rate then jack the rates up after a year or two.  If State Farm screws me around I will drop them like a hot potato.

In our part of the world some insurance companies offer very affordable monthly premiums as a bait, but it almost always comes with a “catch”. The excess fees payable during a claim are usually much higher than excess fees on insurance with more expensive monthly premiums.

In our case, it always makes sense to read the fine print on an insurance contract first.
