No chance to scrub in the new Michelin...
« on: February 23, 2020, 04:40:16 PM »
Dealer cautioned me that my new tire will take several miles to scrub in.
50% chance of light rain for my ride out an hour before sunrise tomorrow....increasing % for the ride home. But finally temps are to be a manageable 35°F!

Since I removed the wheel at home, I have 0 miles on my new front City Grip...so will use some med grit paper and put some 'miles' on that new rubber this afternoon..
Then will ride with care tomorrow.
Maybe give my gauntlets another squirt with water proofing.
It has been 20 days since my last ride! (and it was in the rain)

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Always told by my tyre dealer to "take it easy" on new rubber for 100 miles; so my rule of thumb is a full tank of fuel before I start to explore the outer limits of grip!

old man on the seat ,  never explore the limits,  too chicken, and I like it that way, don't mind a little high speed on the speed way high ways,.  and with no curves to play with maybe I would have developed a little for that kind of riding,.

Hi De Dee, most of my biking done in the UK & Europe (only about 20K miles in the USA), I love the bends (curves), it's what separates the men from the boys!  Come the Spring and definitely the Summer here, one trip to Wales is enough to start the tyres pilling!  On one memorable trip to the Isle of Man TT I wrecked a new tyre in 1,500 miles  :-X
