No myself, but I thought this story with pictures about a long tour in South Africa might be interesting.

Another link  about a tour on a scooter - this time about a local guy on a 200cc Vespa. I knew Des Pistorius quite well. He was also from Durban and a legend in South African motorcycle circles. We were members of the same local motorcycle club. Unfortunately Des passed away a couple of years ago.

youtube guy in California on a Metropolitan 50, tours, crosses deserts and camps in the snow on his 50cc Metropolitan. He's my scooter hero.

I did a 5 day tour on my Kymco Super 8 150.  It wasn't nearly as exciting as the guy in South Africa but I enjoyed it.  I was hoping to do a longer trip on my Like 150i this year but with the pandemic that may have to wait until next year.

I did a ride report of my trip on the super 8 here: https://advrider.com/f/threads/you-only-live-twice.1042598/page-46#post-36524498

I went away for a fortnight on my Like200 back in 2018. It was good as gold apart from a few electrical gremlins, which were easily sorted on the road.

Before that, I went away for 9 days on a Suzuki Address 110 (UK110NE) - probably the best small scooter I have ever owned.

The trick is to travel light. Keep your gear light :)

And take a few spares. I had a belt go on my Like200 :'(
Rides;

Suzuki GW250 Inazuma (2016)
Honda C70C (red, 1983)

Great report !
The name Ashville brings back good memories. Unfortunately we just shaved pass Ashville  on our way from Iowa towards Greenvile SC about 6 years ago. My son’s brother in law graduated at Bob Jones university at Greenville and the in-law family invited us to join the graduation ceremony. After that we spent about a week at  Edisto Beach, and visited several historic sites in South Carolina.
Great area to tour for anyone who likes history !

When I get my LIKE 150i out of the shop (waiting for a wheel), I plan to ride the Devil's Triangle in East Tennessee.
Rode it once on a motorcycle, but it should be even better on a scooter.
