Kymco 150 VS Lambretta uno 150
« on: May 17, 2020, 08:19:48 PM »
Today I took both bikes on the same 15 mile loop of county roads. The Kymco has large wheels compared to small wheels on the Uno. The Kymco is a two valve engine and the Uno a four valve.  Wind out of the NW 11 mph with gusts to 20 mph. Both speedometer's are off by about 6%.

The Kymco going into the wind with a 225lbs rider would run 51mph indicated. Going into a tuck position 54mph.  Going with the wind the Kymco would run 63 indicated.

The Uno  going into the wind would run a indicated 47mph and going into tuck 52mph. Going with the wind the Uno would run 65 indicated. So both bikes were about equal.

The Lambretta Uno is made by Herchee not the defunct Lambretta corp.  The test was for amusement and not controled for accuracy.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

have you ever verified the speed with gps? Do you notice any stability differences between the 2 scoots because of the wheel size? My scoot has 16" wheels so I've never ridden a small wheeled scoot. Curious if it's a real thing or not..

Checked my Like 150i instruments against a GPS.
The speedometer is 2- 3 mph fast over the range (better than I expected).
The odometer is about 13% "fast" (worse than I expected)
Odometer = 16.8 mi; GPS = 14.6 mi.

I did not use GPS to check the speedometer, I used a traffic enforcement radar sign  that has a display of your speed. Like I said earlier this was for amusement.

Wheel size- I did not notice any difference on a smooth road. On sections that had been repaired the small tire has a harsher ride. The same thing with pot holes and railroad track crossings.
 Ironically with minor road imperfections the small tire had just a little smoother ride. This of course is with two different brands of bikes and different suspensions otherwise they are very similar scooters size and weight wise.

This is all seat of the pants and nothing technical.  It was one of the rare times I've road both  back to back on the same course. I usually never take the  150's out of town but needed to run some fuel through them.

I don't think we ever had the Lambretta-badged stuff here until fairly recently, and I don't think we get the same scooters that you do with the Lambretta badge slapped on them.

For a little while we had Norton scooters as well on the same premise.

AJS-badged stuff has been fairly successful in the UK.

Lots of old marques floating around :)
Rides;

Suzuki GW250 Inazuma (2016)
Honda C70C (red, 1983)

I think the same scooter was sold as a Adly Thunder as well as a Lambretta Uno
