Riding into a sunrise...
« on: May 07, 2020, 03:27:11 PM »
Sun rise or sun set, either situation is obviously a risky time for riders. Hoping the drivers will be able to see you....
I ride home pretty much every day into a rising sun.
My helmet does have a tinted drop down shield to look through - but that just darkens everything, including the shadows.
I prefer to apply a strip of painter's tape before setting out....
Blocks the sun, without hampering my view of things.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Duct tape works, too.    Better helmet with bill.

Duct tape can leave a sticky residue if left too long in my experience. I find simply lowering my head so the helmet brow blocks the sun works OK.

As I tend to ride a lot and long trips, riding into sun rise/sun set common for me----3/4 helmet with long duck bill works well----but these long duck bills are getting hard to find......and helmet with built in  face shield and long bill almost impossible (whether full or modular).

Drop down sun shades do nothing for me but rest on nose/glasses

You forget the license plate held on top of a full face helmet through the 1/4-20 camera mount. I have seen some long bills down south of the equator.
