TA YOUNG Flasher Relay
« on: June 06, 2020, 12:45:04 AM »
I found the problem with my scooter to be a dead flasher relay. I need to replace a D-401 TA YOUNG Flasher Relay. Do I have to order the same relay or will any other 3 pin 21W+21W+3.4W(14V 3W) relay work? What is a USA source for a genuine? With covid, shipping from Asia takes several months.

Thanks

Ebay?
Went to parts outlaw..does not list a "winker relay" for the 125 (wha-!) but a 38300 exists for nearly every other model. The difference seems a 38300 "winker relay" is 40 bucks for a DT300i and 30 bucks for a People 125!
Heck, even an Agility 50 has a winker relay!
Dan's Cycle has parts diagrams just like Parts Outlaw so no new news there. Kymco parts numbers practically identical to Honda so you might get some success with a Honda "winker relay." I would investigate any load independent flasher (with 3 wires) at auto parts....gotta be less than 30 bucks!

Ebay has about 20 USED kymco flasher relays for 20-25$ with 10$ shipping.

TBR - looks like I'm late to this one...but when I needed a replacement for my flasher relay to work with led lights I just searched for 3 wire led flasher relays and had a million hits. Nothing specific about them. Typical price was around $10.

I bought a genuine just to have a stock part as a control unit. I built an adapter plug converting the original inline mini spade to standard separate spade for a normal relay such as you mentioned.

I might go led at some point. When I get through my 7 spare signal lamps.

I got the relay today and it weighed almost nothing and didn't function. Pulled the cap....... it was an empty plastic shell. I am returning it of course and am worried about the starter relay coming from the same seller next week.

It was cheap:) I have a standard auto type relay on the way. The time loss is the biggest irritation as this issue has cost me 2 weeks of lost transport.

I had to pull the bicycle back out.

I will be when the new battery comes in on Monday. The battery was trashed when sucked empty for a week which is ok as it was already on its 4th year. I have used the opportunity to do a complete rebuild maintenance. Repacking bearings, servicing brakes, removing superfluous emission systems etc. I had to remove the air injecting because the flange weld had broken and was leaking exhaust.

Can you share brand and vendor information so no one else suffers the same fate?

It was an honest error. The seller apparently got a bad batch and after two complaints of the same issue he contacted all buyers and replaced the relays free of charge. I have been very impressed with his actions and communication. I got the other relay and it is very good quality.
