handlebar / frame flex?
« on: June 18, 2020, 02:17:39 PM »
took a nice, long ride yesterday on the scoot into the country on my S200. Now I typically ride my motorcycle about 90% of the time and the scoot the rest so I'm more familiar with the motorcycle.

One thing I've mentioned before is the apparent 'flex' in the bars. I'm exaggerating somewhat, but it when I'm riding on bumpier roads it feels like the hand grips are moving forward and back an inch or two in response to the bumps.  If you imagine a triangle from both grips to your crotch it should ideally stay the same but on my scoot it feels like it stretches forward and back.

on my motorcycle the relationship between grips and seat is rock solid..like it's carved out of a solid piece of granite. No flex at all. Everything is tight on my scoot, I've checked all fasteners, etc.

For your guys that also ride (or rode) motorcycles...do you get the same feeling with your (flat floor) step through scooters or is this just mine?

Do they all flex like they're made out of rubber?

Not that I have noticed. One thin I DID notice right away was scoots with telecopic forks were attached a the lower "triple tree" with two cinch bolts! That concerned me since motorcycles were, well, you know...! However, NEVER experienced what you described! Maybe you should check the framework if you have a flat floor....(don't  you have a People? S200?)

I just went out to the garage and sat on it (while on centerstand)...If I sit on seat and push and pull hard on bars there is no movement front and back...but when I'm riding it really feels like it's flexing forward and back..a lot...

So not sure if reality or just perception?

10 year old scooter that may have some frame flex---if nothing broken, it is ok.  Broken-fix.
