Don't get to say this too often in England...
« on: August 14, 2020, 08:24:29 AM »
... but it's been way too hot to ride this week!  Temperatures up over 30c (mid-80's for our American cousins), very humid and I just couldn't work up the energy to climb into my scootering gear.  When you're running with sweat just bringing the wheelie bins in off the roadside, you know it makes sense to wait for a cooler day.

Could that be today?...
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

Welcome to my world. It's been that way most ofl summer.  Finally we're supposed to have some cooler weather move in next week and the temperature and humidity is supposed to drop into the low 80'sF.

If I go for a ride I usually do it early morning before the heat of the day. Before A/C wealthy people had several homes in different parts of the country to escape the heat and cold.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

It has typically been over 90 degrees here with a heat index of over 100.  Luckily it's not that far to the mountains East of here.  I spent most of last week in the North Carolina mountains riding with a bunch of friends.  Temperatures were mostly in the 60s and 70s.  I normally wear mesh riding gear in  the summer but it was so cool up there that I wore warmer riding gear.

It's all about getting to higher elevations.

Have had to use the liner in my mesh jacket a couple of mornings last week.....even as the day rose to 90.
I get riding an hour before sunrise - and am in place miles away with my coffee to see it come up.

If you're not used to heat and humidity....I bet it is rough!
When on vacation in Florida it is always hot and humid....but with a nice breeze --- and knowing the ocean is "just over there" makes it feel a whole lot better than a summer day in Ohio. We're never more than a 1/2 mile or so from the shore when we exit the car's A/C!

Had the pup out 45mins before sunrise to the reservoir today....

30+ yr habit of rising at 05:30.

I can ride on hot weather----Yuma Proving Ground/Okinawa/Real Southern Japan-----and real hot once in a while in Germany-----what I do not like:  no vent German buildings in real hot.

I admire your discipline Tom. I’m still sleeping another 90 minutes after your reveille!

From an American sunrise to a Scottish sunrise - from halfway up a mountain last weekend

and from the top with the sun properly up.....

...and looking west with the sun behind you

Worth getting up for!

Snorvey neat pictures reminds me of being in the Sierra's in California looking down at the San Joaquin Valley shrouded in fog.
