Unfortunately, face shields alone have proven ineffective against either the spread of, or being infected by the virus.  If you're infected with the COVID virus and only wear a face shield, you can still spread the virus.  It's most effective if a mask is worn with the shield.  The only reason to wear a face shield (with a mask) is if your eyes may be exposed to the virus, such as if you're a dentist or dental hygienist, or work in a lab where you may be exposed to droplets.  Bandanas and neck gaiters are worse than not wearing a face mask.  Check the updated CDC guidelines for face coverings.

My wife and daughter wear one all day at work.
Wife - Dr's office.
Daughter - dept. store. (thankfully the store finally mandated it for all customers too - as maybe 15% were wearing them prior to this. Store has a "greeter" at the door - to enforce the rule.

I’ll be honest. I’m glad they made it mandatory in my county. Why? Even grown men sometimes are intimidated by peer pressure. And most men were NOT wearing masks in most stores. So I often didn’t wear one either. But also felt guilty for not doing so. Now it’s mandatory. So I can wear one without feeling that others are judging my “manliness “ . Yep. That’s pathetic. But it doesn’t take much for us grown men to succumb to peer pressure to not look like wusses. Especially in certain areas where people start making things into political litmus tests, and you simply don’t feel like “dealing with it”

Glad you're wearing a mask.  I started wearing a mask as soon as it was recommended.  Having spent 40 plus years working in healthcare - hospitals, medical office buildings, etc. - I knew there would be problems if we all didn't start protecting ourselves, and each other.  So, if there is still anyone out there who thinks wearing a mask diminishes your manliness, get over it.  Wearing a mask beats having a vent tube stuck up your nose, or down your throat.

I'm all for wearing masks in buildings and when social distancing can't be maintained but some states have gone way overboard with this.  Wisconsin DNR employees are now required to wear masks while on Zoom meetings even though they are at home alone :o

NYPost.....half inch above the National Enquirer.
State is simply asking the employees to help set an example by wearing the masks.
