This is America, too...

Middle aged African-American fellow slowed to a stop next to me.
"You OK?"
"Yeah, but thanks for asking!"

He gave me a thumbs up and motored on to work.
Loved that truck when I got home and took a better look at it!

Actually, I'd argue it's MORE of America than what you see on the nightly news.

One of the things that has disappointed me throughout this tumultuous year is that few, if any, "leaders" on either side of the aisle have stood up and reminded the American people that we are generally good, decent folks who care about one another. And all you have to do to know that is think about your day-to-day existence. Do you interact with folks of other colors and beliefs at the grocery store? On the highways? The post office? The cafe on the corner? Of course! And do you constantly clash with those folks? Of course not! Most of us really do want to get along and do what's right, but I suppose it is not in either party's best interest to focus on unity when there are political points to be scored by pointing fingers.

OK, stepping down off my soapbox now...

I concur 100% but would like to add News media sells hate and bias and makes a lot of money off it not just politicians. Most people that have jobs have learned to work with one another and just trying to make a good living. Retired now but my boss was African American and a heck of a nice guy. News media doesn't make any money off of unity. All they have done is trying to drive a wedge between us.

Sadly there are those stupid enough to beleive them.

Around here in West TN folks are right polite to each other. On of the main reasons we stopped watching any tv news was of the terrible things already mentioned plus no accuracy.

Actually, I see both the love AND hate . Neither is a fabrication of “The media “. It simply depends on the circumstances and a willingness to See the best in people because most do mean well and are kind.
But in getting along in society there is also a significant amount of the following:  A. Pretend not to have heard the conversation you overheard.
 B. Love your neighbor because you CHOOSE to focus on the Good.
C. Say neutral , universally True stuff that will not reveal how you really feel about what they just said when they simply assumed you agreed with them because you were polite.

D. Nodding your head and smiling while trying to change the subject to something less controversial.

I was told tonight that Louisville was burning. All they could come up with was a small trash fire on a sidewalk. That did not come from main stream media, but from radicals posting lies for the narrative.

That would have been something I would have done too. I’ve been stranded before. So I try to look out for others.
