Agility 125 Has Power But No Start

Hello,
I recently took my Kymco Agility 125 out of the garage for the first time in around 8 months and I am having trouble starting it. I charged the battery which was dead and replaced the old fuel and it revs up but does not start. I posted a video link below if anybody has any ideas. I have yet to clean the carb or check the filters etc so if somebody could point me in the right direction on what to start with first that would be great.

First of all, cranking incessantly like that only runs the battery down and ruins the starter.

This has been sitting for 8 months, correct? That means there is no fuel in the float bowl of the carburetor,  correct? (It is a carb, isn't it?) So, the system is the fuel shutoff valve is vacuum operated. Very little vacuum is developed during starting. So you gonna have to find the vacuum tube that goes to that valve and suck on it until fuel comes out of the fuel line to the carb. Once that happens, put the fuel line back on the carb and suck some more until the float bowl is full. Then put the vacuum line back on where you removed it. Try starting and stop cranking after about 5 to 7 revolutions. Tell us if it starts and we will go from there.

I have a feeling this is a commen problem on most Agility’s - it simply does not like standing for a while.

My Agility gets used almost 365 days each year and it always starts instantly - as long as it does not stands for more than 3 days. After 3 days standing the engine battles to start.

This really puzzles me. There must be a good reason for this. I think the fuel in the carb somehow just disappear if the the scooter is just standing. It could be a vaccuum in the carb or fuel line, caused by some or other component but I am not sure. Maybe too much fuel in the carb just evaporate due to engine heat after the engine get’s switched off - but I am just guessing.

To my understanding a professional mechanic recently joined this forum - maybe he will be able to explain or to give advice.

Something I started doing this year (since I ride my scoot so infrequently) is draining the carb bowl between rides. It's a 2 handed affair with right hand on screwdriver turning carb drain screw and left hand holding little glass jar under scoot's rubber carb bowl drain line.

The fuel that comes out is ok looking but after only a few days it is dark and very strong smelling. It evaporates pretty quickly. I assume something similar is happening inside the carb bowl as fuel sits.

I've attached a pic of the glass jar on my bench that I filled with fuel less than a week ago (drained carb bowl into it). Granted, there was some other dark, evaporated, left over fuel in there but this is pretty representative of what it looks like after it sits for a short time (yes, I do add fuel stabilizer with each tank and never run ethanol).

This is all a long winded way of saying that if a scooter sits for a while the fuel turns to junk in the carb bowl and it needs to be drained and the carb likely needs to be cleaned.

blarsen49...as long as you have fresh fuel and a charged battery (and assuming you've drained your carb bowl of old fuel..there's a screw you turn at the bottom of the carb that opens up the bowl and drains the contents) I would assume a clogged carb.

On my scoot (probably similar to your setup) I can remove the seat to expose the motor and carb...unhook the carb from both the airfilter and engine side by loosening the hose clamp at each side..wiggle the carb loose and then gently turn the carb over without having to disconnect any cables or hoses.

remove 4 float bowl screws, remove and clean both the main and pilot jets with carb cleaner and a fine wire (for pilot jet), make sure the rest of the bowl is clean...put it back together and fire up the scoot.
