"9.25 sales tax and $195. title fee. "

You guys really get hosed. 6% and 15 bucks in Iowa. My plates might have added 20, don't remember. I paid 1500 for my 2010 500 with almost 13K on it. I don't think that is high, and I'd take the deal again in a heartbeat if I were shopping.

The title fee is what a lot of dealers charge not the state. Yes we do get hosed on sales tax.  My last purchase paid to the county was, Registration  $8. Title fee $10. Reflectorized plate fee .50 cents,  KHP training and staff fee $2. Law enforcement trn ctr fee $1.25 DMV modernization fee $4. County fee $5. McPherson facility fee $2. Isolated sales tax $67.50 County sales tax collection fee .50 cents,  Motor vehicle property tax $6. For a grand total of $106.75

Then we have the privilege of paying property tax ever year upon renewal.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Canada has a VAT tax as well. At one time the US had a tax added to your phone bill to pay for the Spanish American war, the tax never went away until the breakup of AT&T.

I hear that The Mog, in Somalia, is nice this time of year, and they don't have taxes.
