congratulations to Kymco
« on: December 24, 2020, 11:56:41 AM »
Yesterday riding my 2019 XTown 300i---smooth road, 45-50mph, small rear box, Puig Touring screen with Laminar lip-----this is nice scooter and I say this based on over 400,000 rubber band drive scooters since 1990----prior Vespa 2 strokes.    The Kymco is my 11th new Maxiscooter since 1990.   Heidenau tires changed it into nice handling/riding---even air/wind management up to 60 mph is good....not in Vespa scooter class but ok. I buy only new, make no mods other than necessary wingshield/top box and mounts, OEM drive belts work fine.   Scooters can work well for long trips, used mine for several trips to Alaska/James Bay Road in Quebec/Nova Scotia

Mine was purchased when the price was low=GREAT!  About half the price of a Burgman 400.  Has been very trouble free except for foul OEM tires, 69-70 mpg US---Kymco really didn't spell out exact fuel requirement, so I mix reg and High test---no pinging/hot running.  Oil=WalMart 10-40, priced right, available just about every place in N. America. Now as long time motorcyclist---including Harley/BMW/MZ sidecar outfits, riding in all weathers, I find there is secret to enjoying scooters.....ride them as scooter, speed down they are not sub for big motorcycle or sport bike.

Now please remember, XTown is stretched 250 and should be ridden that way---to get out of the way 80 mph is always there----  And for old farts who were never very skillful when young, it takes a lot of skill to safely ride scooter in all conditions.  Everybody  who has a big scooter has dropped them!

Going to try to line up shots today so I can be somewhat free to roam----Happy New Year.

One Tip---after doing this everyday since 1955-----right clothes/oufit really important, professional quality----warm and dry nice.   Multiday trip, I hate wet feet. Ear plugs, correct helmet fit nice, too.

Merry Christmas John and here’s to a well-travelled 2021.

ScooterFreak, I chopped my PCX in for my 300 Kymco and have never regretted it! As John says, it maybe a “stretched 250”, but it certainly does it for me. Though I too changed out the OEM tyres PDQ!

@scooter freak
First of all a Merry Christmas to you and and all other scooteristi.
When l got my LIKE 200i a couple of month ago (2nd hand, 10 yrs old, 46 TKM on the odometer) in very good and well mantained shape, l kind of regretted the sale of my HONDA Deauville NTV 650.
Then, after riding her home about 30 kilometers a good spirit between scooter and me developed. Don't get me wrong, lm not in things like mehtaphysics or so...  But l got confidence in this scooter because its light, easy to put on the stand and a hell to ride it around tight corners from which we have enough here in Italy. To sum it up: l love my LIKE.
Also to tinker with is an very ( thanks to Stig, Neil, Kansas, John, Scooterfan...l cannot.name explicitely all of them) easy and fulfilling task.
Just look at that methamorphosis of mine.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

Merry Christmas morning to you Ruffus😊
Is the red painted area of you wind screen to prevent glare-back from the headlight?

....waiting for family to wake up here in Ohio. Phone says it "feels like -2°F" outside! light snow falling. NOT having coffee at my sidewalk table in the village this morning.!!
Stig
2 days ago, so cold and windy that I had to keep my heated gloves on as I sat and had coffee at my sidewalk table.  First time that's happened.

@Stig, txs alot for  Christmas wishes.
Yes, your sharp eye discovered the reason behind this strip of paint too. Guy Fawkes somehow inspirated me to that. Don't know why.
You really don't give in easely to cold and wet.

@Kansas, txs to you too. Here its pretty stable from weather. We never have snow or black- ice. Just rain and fog, but sometimes fog like pea-soup.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus
