average battery life
« on: January 29, 2021, 01:57:44 AM »
Hello everybody, Got a question.

So recently My battery went bad, it was reading at 1275 volts but did not have enough power to turn over the starter. The battery that Died was replaced about six months ago. is it normal for these small motorcycle batteries to last that long. I have checked with a MM and can confirm that my bike is charging the battery. I suppose other factors play in as well such as Cold weather and my short commute to work.

My real question is would it be beneficial for me when I am at work to hook my battery up to a charger when not in use. I am at work for more than 8 hours a day and have a source of power for the trickle charger. Im just wondering if this will extend the life of my battery?

Yes, your short rides and a cold winter will definitely kill a battery. Hardly any new battery is fully charged before installation - you actually had to hook it on a charger before installation.
You have no choice other than hooking the battery to a tricle charger quite often - the short rides will eventially kill most batteries. When the voltage goes too low on a battery a couple of times the battery will not last.

Thats what I was afraid of, My carport doesn't have an electrical outlet but Where I park my scooter at work does.  I bought this one off of amazon.
