FI vs carburetor 250 Xciting's
« on: January 26, 2021, 09:24:20 AM »
I have noticed a little glitch in the FI 250 Xiciting's at speeds below 20 mph. It seems to be kind of notchy or in steps, you get above that and it's smooth. My carbureted 250 Xicting does not seem to have that issue.  Probably just a mapping software issue on the FI machines.

Do any of your FI models have any glitches at very low speeds?

Not uncommon I suspect KK.  I haven't had any real glitches with my X-Town 300i, but my Triumph Street Triple was very "notchy" below about 5,000 RPM at which point it takes off like a scalded cat!  I say "was" because after it's last service and a factory-issued remap it is much improved.  My conclusion?  If you spot a problem then first port of call has to be the mapping.
Regards & ride safe,

I believe more common on fuel injected motorcycles..consensus seems to be the lean fueling to meet emissions. My bike has this issue on deceleration or closing throttle..opening throttle is fine, no glitches, bu closing throttle goes from about 10% throttle to zero...nothing in between. You learn to be very smooth on the throttle.

I didn't know FI scooters had similar issues, but it's not surprising.

I normally don't ride at such a low speed but found the issue in downtown Lindsborg with a slow speed limit.
