a little history flying over today
« on: April 13, 2021, 12:01:20 AM »
Some local fellows were out flying their restored B-25 today. I never fail to recognize the sound of this old twin engine bomber when it comes over the house.
(it is a "J" model I think) They bring it out on nice days.

A few years ago they gathered  B-25s for a meet and flyover at the Museum of the U.S. Air Force, in Dayton, Ohio. 17 B-25 bombers took part in a two-day tribute commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Doolittle Tokyo Raid.

That is the Museum below the bombers. It is an amazing place to visit. No tax=payer funds were used. Admission and parking  is free.

All of these old birds are attractive for one reason or another.

Dayton, home of the Wrights....Wright-Patterson AFB....the air museum...

Always wanted to vist.

You have any idea the amount of work it takes to maintain those warbirds? I stayed real busy with a couple of fairly modern turbo-props in my day but they were about a third the age of those B-25's!

You’re right Karl, it’s amazing how they manage to keep these old WWII planes airworthy! Have occasionally seen Spitfires, Hurricanes & Lancaster bombers here, but they’re getting rarer by the year.
Regards & ride safe,
