Polini hi speed variator issues
« on: August 18, 2022, 04:16:44 AM »
Hello all, I am new to this forum.
I have a 2008 Kymco vitality 50 2T. I have not put a big bore kit on it.
This is what I have added:
1: malossi flip exhaust
2: malossi Kevlar belt
3: malossi clutch (still have stock contra spring in clutch) white tension springs)
Main jet is 85 and pilot jet is 32.
My issue:
I bought the polini high speed variator, when I tried to install it today everything seemed okay until i end to electric start it. There was a grinding noise and the kick starter turned almost a full rotation and slammed into the ground.

I re read the instructions and it said to remove the electric start gear. I did this, put the gear box cover back on, re aligned the kick starter and it did the same thing. I put the stock variator back in and it looked like the sizing was the in regard to spacing as the polini. I read online elsewhere about needing to add washers between each transmission box cover bolt (the multiple 8mm bolts) has anyone had this issue?

Hi Joey, very welcome here, not a 2T guy, but sounds to me that:
-kickstart sprocket not aligned
-kickstart mechanism faulty
-kickstart mechanism wrongly assambled

Usually POLLINI parts are plug n' play, and fit precisely. Pls check your CVT and clutch once again for installation faults.
Then start your scoot without CVT cover mounted.
Now you should see (hear) where this inconvenience was located at.
Pls give a feedback for all of us.

Not that you can start the Kymco 2T engine without the cover on, but if you could, that might be informative.
When you put the polini variator on, are the same number of threads showing on the outside of the nut as with the stock variator after you tighten the bolt with an impact? What is the part number of the polini variator you installed?
Been riding for a very long time.
