NCY 72cc bbk
« on: October 20, 2010, 08:51:27 PM »
Install is done, first few rides have been run and here is what I have found...

The NCY 72cc bbk for the gy6 fits the kymco agility 50.  The person who installed it had no complaints about it.  It works.

The scooter is faster, as I alluded to before. 5mph faster.  Easily.  Some cases its 7-8 mph.

The scooter acclerates much faster.  0-20/30  happens several seconds faster.

Scoot climbs quicker too.

Cruises at 40ish, and by ish I mean 40-42, where before it was 35mph.  GPS verified.

I am happy with the kit but...

The but is that I was ok spending the $300 for the kit and install.  Will you, can you, spend that and be ok with the modest increase?

Some of us might not be.  As for reliability...  I can't tell yet.

I think if you need a much faster scooter then get an agility 125 or some thing similer but for what it is, and what I do with it, I love the change.

the pic is the old piston.  might need to get some seafoam in before too long.
Im usually on a bicycle, so for me, this thing is hauling ass!

Performance isn't cheap! I don't know how much you paid for labor. But NCY quality isnt that great and it wouldn't be my choice for internal engine components.
I just paid 239.00 for just a forged piston and that doesn't include coating by SWAIN.
Remember when performing any engine modifications reliability comes with quality which equals to price.
Example: 67MM piston 49.00
67MM forged and balanced Piston 239.00
You can see a difference with some bigger parts at a low cost until they fail, or spend money for performance with quality for reliability. This also goes for the detail of installing performance parts.
You can just slap parts together and send it out the door or you can check and adjust tolerances of mating parts.

..i'd tend to agree with lankee on this...

..for longevity, my first choices would be malossi, then polini....then airsal....

..but, hey....depending on how you ride, the NCYs might love you long time!!

Yes these are great quality parts from what I have seen. I haven't used these manufactures YET, but I am looking into the Polini Race clutch to install on my race engine build. Just trying to get some dimensions before I make the purchase. Taida has been ok and there customer service has been great! Ive been working with May Shien of Taida and he has been great in meeting my request on my build. RRGS looks really good also, IF YOU CAN READ TAIWAN! I emailed them if they have more information translated in detail in English still havent heard back.. ME NO SPEAK ENGLISH I guess. But they have nice sh**!
NCY has the Hit Clutch out but they are asking over 250 USD! NO WAY NO HOW will I spend that much for ANYTHING from NCY!
NCY also has the hispeed alternator for the GY6 which looks great, noticed I said LOOKS great. In picture but I have noticed NCY isnt high qaulity in the fine detail department. They need to spend more in there qaulity before I dig deep for parts over 100.00 I may buy some fast and furious look good parts that really have no function.

..i got a complete NCY cvt kit at a really good price...

..only thing that i found worth using is the clutch bell...

..and really, the jury is still out on that bit, as i noticed that when coupled with the NCY clutch, the "wear pattern" on the inside of the bell shows that the pads only engaged for about 1/2 their total width...

..gotta try the bell with another clutch to verify whether or not it's junk as well...

..annnnd...the NCY clutch's springs are proprietary....

..neither KYMCO oem, nor Leo, nor Malossi springs will fit it...

I screwed up and ordered a NCY clutch variator kit and intake.
Now I order only parts from manufactures in small low cost parts first and see how the parts are. Contact them and see how there customer service is and how long it takes for a return email.

The clutch springs were to long so this caused the shoes to drag.
The intake was missing the o-ring

That pretty much pissed me off about NCY!!

...the torque driver I.D. in the kit i bought had never been machined to it's final "spec"...

..still had rough "tool markings"....

..now, i have the means and skills to fix that, which i did, but only after i had ran it a cpl miles and it had locked up...

..the variator didn't last long at all...there's pics here...somewhere...

..and dang glopez...hope you have better luck outta your NCY bits than we have!!!!!

Yeah, i didn't know it was ncy, generic listing.  Paid a hundred for it.

The guy who installed it is very experienced and did a lot of tuning before he gave me my scooter .

I am worried about long term but i don't plan on having the scoot much past November.
Going to pick up an agility 125, at least that's the plan.  Hope to turn the a50 into a mountain bike for my gf.

but trying to find one is the key.

I don't want used 'cause well, people like me/us do things to them...

I don't want to haft to mod the scoot just to gain perfermance...

A new 125 ready to roll is just within my price range and scoot magazine rated it pretty high.
