Bringing Optimistic Speedometer in Line

Comparing the KYMCO's speedometer to a GPS reading for the first time today, I was shocked to see how far off it was. There 's a device for sale called the speedohealer that I'm having dealer look at to see if it'll fix the problem.

However, if anyone has any proven solutions to the seemingly non-linear speedo error, I'm all ears. If not, I'll report back on my idea for a fix.

Bad news. KYMCO speedo is mechanically driven so the Speedohealer will not work. Shoot.

No bueno...

I gps'ed mine too...

little black marker spots on my speedo...

but at night...  I can't see them.

I wonder if a different "gearing" would fix it.

It'll take longer as I have to calculate the error (which doesn't seem to be linear) but I'll let the board know if I have any success.

You can use a GPS

I know with my speedo reads and actual are the following..

speedo 35mph gps= 31
           45mph gps= 39
           55mph gps= 47
           65mph gps= 54
           70mph gps= 57

First off, thanks for publishing the indicated vs the actual. That's useful stuff.

I suppose I can use a GPS which would likely be easiest option. It's just my GPS (A Garmin Nuvi 700 series) doesn't have a very large speed display and I'm not comfortable reading it at a glance.

Veering somewhat off topic. . .the least expensive car has an accurate speedo. Why can't a scooter maker do it?

I am guessing a selling point. Its kind of like if you think your motorcycle or car is fast dont do these 2 things. 1) Put it on a dyno machine 2) Take it to a dragstrip.

..with my a50, i see nearly the opposite in range..

..the faster the scoot goes, closer does the offset becomes..

..hmmmm...
