I bought an aftermarket pump online that advertised for my 500. It ran fine but after warming up the pump kept falling 2-3 lbs short of the minimum pressure required to run. I'm not in the habit of repeating my mistakes to get burned twice. And my 500 is no less reliable that I can tell. It's just a d*mn fuel pump. How hard should that be? If I'd had this issue with a Honda it would have been on the shelf. I guess I could expect the same runaround if I had a new 550 Kymco.

My dealer wouldn't install a aftermarket pump.  Went with the factory pump assembly for $163. that has the regulator and gas gauge sender unit . So far so good knock on wood.

It took me twice as long to get the Yamaha assembly and more then twice the price.

This was before covid was prevalent.

A new 550 would concern me. But others have a different view of things.
Me - At that price they had better have trained the techs. And my dealer nearby better have one. And there better be normal, consumable, spares on his shelf.
If not - I'm at a Honda, Suzuki or Yamaha dealer. If their scoots aren't big enough for me - I'll be looking at all the nice motorcycles which they have in the price range of a 550 scooter.

@wymple, isn't there any other fuelpump which would fit. Take it out and compare online, there must be something fitting.

Yes, lots of them.  They're all standard m/c fuel pumps, different sizes.  Not expensive.
