The hoarding of gasoline has hit this area because of the ATTEMPTED hack of the computers controlling some east coast pipeline. Expect gas prices to skyrocket and if it lasts long enough, scooters will become as scarce as toilet paper was! Too bad Kymco USA is in such turmoil to miss this possible boom.

But, hey! We all got one or more scoots here! Who is it on here who flips scoots like houses? He gonna be the big cheese dealer overnight!

Just like toilet paper it's hording that has lead to the temporary crisis.  Crossbolt I will disagree about attempted hacking, they succeeded.  I knew this would happen sooner or later.  I anticipate with the cancelation of the pipeline we will be more dependent on hostile countries for oil. This my friends will drive the price of gas up over the long run, not a short term crisis. They stated they wanted $8. gas to make us switch to electric vehicles. 

I worked with the SCADA system and most pipelines and energy companies use the same system world wide. Colonial pipeline used an outdated software version  that made it vulnerable.

Kymco should immediately have a press release stating there's a scooter  shortage. This should have them sold out by the end of the week.

Keep track of oil distribution with a pencil, paper and little bald guy with a visor.
Pay him a decent wage and he can't be hacked.
Get the important stuff out of the blasted computers!

Here in Europe we had several oil/fuel crisa already.
Right now benzin/gas is  €1.70 here in Italy, makes per gallon à 3.9 ltrs € 6,63. But here no one was/ is hoarding. Just wondering where all this electricity for zig-million E-vehicles should come from.
Toilet paper might be be a different issue.

I have 2 sales reps who work for me in Tennessee and they both told me that they are seeing many gas stations with plastic bags over their pump handles, signifying they are out of gas. Kind of reminds me of my area whenever a big snowstorm is predicted....all the grocery stores run out of milk and bread...ridiculous..

No gas shortage in my part of Iowa...

There is no gas shortage it's a distribution problem.   This should serve as a wake up call for major infrastructure software to be kept up to date.

Most pipeline company's use a dedicated system to operate SCADA. All it takes is a operator going online through the SCADA system for it to be compromised.

Most of Colonial pipeline is back up and running and the rest should be restored by the end of the week. If it wasn't for panic buying there would have been no interruption,  stupid people created the shortage.  Just like toilet paper.

To show just how stupid people are they had people putting gas into plastic bags, they had to tell people not to do this.

My Shevvie F-150 actually needed gas - and, after reading the news on-line today, I grabbed the cat on the back porch and tossed it inside and headed out the door for the SHELL station.

$72.bazillion dollars.  (@$2.89)
I wept as it passed $50.....

On the way home ...through my tears -- it occurred to me, "we don't have a cat"

Your close the government blames the victim not the person who committed the crime. There is talk about prosecuting the pipeline operator for having outdated software making it vulnerable, not the Russian hackers. 

Hacking has become rampant costing us all lots of money, company's that get hacked that cost them money just pass the cost on to the consummer.

It looks like the pipeline paid the ransom 4 to 5 million dollars.  That ought to teach the hackers crime pays, and very well.

What would you like to bet that Colonial pipeline is in search of a new IT guy.

The Russian hacker group DarkSide, the ones who hacked the Colonial pipeline financial system leading to the shutdown and the associated shortages on the east coast, says it's going out of business.

Why?

Seems somebody seized their servers (the country hasn't been named yet) and somebody transferred all their funds, and those of their "advertisers" to an "unknown account".

I guess somebody told Cyber Command that Russian criminals no longer get the kid-glove treatment.
    

Seems like their Bitcoin wallets got emptied out too.

Looks like maybe somebody was watching where Colonial's money went to and was ready.

DarkSide has also apparently told its "affiliates" to let current victims "off the hook" and they will be compensating the "affiliates".

I guess the guys in charge don't want to meet the SEALs...
