Wheel Bearings
« on: May 29, 2021, 04:14:57 PM »
I've got the front wheel off and am trying to grease its bearings. Unlike some gy6 youtube videos I don't see an easy cap that comes off exposing them to do so. What should be done?

@Vision, don't open them.
THose wheelbearings are permanantely sealed and have a lifetime lubrication in it. IF there is any roughness on this bearings, they are supposed to be changed. Both are the same size (pls see pic) and on the wheels left side you have an oil seal, which is to be changed too. This oil seal is
 20- 32 -6.(ID -OD- H)

Doesn't the manual say to use silicone grease on them?

Don't know about this specific manual. Silicone grease or any other goes at the axle and into your speedometer casing.
Correction: your front wheel bearings are
6301 2RS, means 12x37x10 both sides sealed.
Oil seal: 20-37-6 mm

Silicone grease on the axle means spraying the rod of the axle (except the threads) with silicone?

I think the speedometer gets conventional grease. It looks like there's some of it on there now and the manual doesn't specify silicone.

Appreciate the feedback.

Exactely.

This  speedo gear is plastic and takes all kind of grease.
For the video:
Yes, this is a possibility in an case where no new bearings are available. Since they are already out and inexpensive, I would opt for new ones.
Additional IF I would open and regrease closed bearings, would wash out old gunk and metal shavings with petroleum before greasing and putting dust lids on it.
But like I said, once out, renew them.
