What a cobbled up mess
« on: July 08, 2021, 01:21:44 PM »
Something new scooter owners never encounter.  I bought a used 200S and they made a mess of the rear fender by taking it off incorrectly and broke the two mounting points off the two side panels. A new rear fender is cheap along with a new tag light but the side panels is another matter.  I might have to make a bracket to attach to the side panels. I have been very fortunate that I rarely encounter this.  We'll I'll  order some more parts when the dealer opens.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Hey, KK, first off, I know it's a bummer buying something only to find out it has silly broken parts that had no reason to be broken...what exactly is broken off on the fender?

I attached 2 old pics that show the fender nut, screw and tab locations. If it's only the 2 forward tabs you're still ok...(not sure how they could break those off?)...it still has 1 screw on each side and the 2 nuts in back.  Even the side screws probably arent' completely necessary? It's really the 2 nuts in back that do all the work.

Again, I know the scoot is in good hands and you'll get it all put back together the way it should be.

Iahawk where the 2 back bolts are they bolted a piece of steel and ran a bolt out the center with the big tab that slides in cut off. On the sides they broke the side panels on both sides where it attaches to. . They had the rear fender held on by one center bolt. The wires for the tag light were messed up as well.  I ordered another fender and tag light assembly just a few moments ago. Third day of calling for parts when Dan's opened.  Thankfully parts are reasonable and hopefully in stock.

Waiting on the seat form  the upholsterer on the Riva Z.  Still need to paint the side panels. Will put up a portable tent and suit up with respirator and paint those and a panel for the parts GV I'm restoring.

Today I'm digging out dirt to put in a concrete Foundation for the building I ordered.  Have to dig down 10" below grade so the building will be at the same level as the patio. I use the rototiller to loosen the soil and haul it off in a wheel barrow . Have a 12'x13' section to do, one heck of a lot of dirt.  Well at least I'm getting my exercise.  :-[

and it sounds like they made a mess out of the fender..gotta wonder why people do stuff like this?

You just take it in stride, fix it and move on. Not to happy about the side panel mounting points broke off.  I will send you a picture.

I only work until noon, to hot with the sun overhead and higher temperatures.  Almost to building the forms. Wanted to get this done so the concrete could cure a couple of weeks.  Building is still about 7 weeks out

I dug four 12x12 pads for picnic tables for Child Support staff. Used a tiller like you to loosen that July baked soil! Like concrete.
Damned old tiller used to shock the snot out of you if you shut it off wrong. The old gas powered generator did the same ! County had lovely equipment....
Curred my stuttering, though.

Nothing like 15 kw volts to get your attention.  Just be glad there is no amperage behind it.
