How often do you flush your brake fluid?
« on: September 12, 2021, 05:47:17 PM »
I have purchased a lot of used scooters and motorcycles.  Just about everyone that had some age to them had nasty brake fluid even though the owner's manual recommends changing.

Do you flush your brake fluid?
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

Yes. It's easy on the Like200i and the Piaggio. About every couple of years...unless I don't like the color.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

yep, do it every year on my motorcycle, every other on my scooter (S200 is a pain in the a** to get to the master). So much easier to do on a scoot or bike vs a car (but your car needs brake fluid changes, too!)

My helix had nasty, sludgy fluid that was almost empty in the master...flushed it all this summer, will do it again when riding season is over.

I also like to pull apart my calipers and clean and lube the slide pins at least every other year.

As I normally only buy fresh new bikes---every 3-5 years if necessary.....normal times I get rid of them before necessary.  Dealers can often screw this flushin process up,too.
