speed run on the Liberty155i

Sitting bolt upright in normal 6'3" riding position....saw 62mph. Which = @56mph?
Got up to that speed pretty smartly...and stayed there.
First "speed run" in wuite awhile. Maybe the 3rd since 2017.
Pitch dark, and of course did this on Rt 68, which is set up for this speed (55).
Very secure feeling with these big wheels.

Not too shabby for a "well laden" 155cc single with all that wind drag.  You surprise me though Stig, I thought a self-imposed 23-30 mph was your limit on your early morning meanders?

I waited on two cars and followed them in to town on Rt 68 which has few if any deer. They're cruising and singing along to the radio and I'm flat flooring it and urging all 3 squirrels to "give it the beans, boys!"
Still, some jerk blew by all three of us just before we hit town.

OK, I'm good with speed runs for several months....or years.

Most sources (and many owners ) say that Piaggio claims a 61mph top speed.
An Italian said his popular Italian magazine claims a tested top speed of 69.5mph.....which means that speedometer is showing well over 75mph!
I don't believe that speed.

Regardless of brand  the majority of my scooter's show about 6 mph faster then GPS.  Even my Ford truck shows 2 mph faster than GPS.  I've never checked the BMW motorcycles  against GPS.

I asked the Italian if the magazine ever uses adults on the seat for the speed runs.
There's a guy on youtoob claiming he goes 80mph on his stock Liberty here in the States.
(I think he's getting MPG and MPH mixed up in his tiny little head)
61mph is the accepted max for this scooter....and I must assume that that is GPS'd, with a 'normal' sized scooter rider....and NOT someone of the Stig's sail and mental capacity

Stig when I did the speed run on the People 150 2 valve and the Lambretta  UNO 150 quad valve I was in the full tuck position.   Both scooters were just about identical  top speed 58 GPS with the speedometer showing 63 and 65 mph.  Did the speed run on the same day and same road. 

I did notice on my 250 Xiciting's  I reach red line long before it runs out of steam.   Red line is about 70 mph but the scooter will easily run 80 mph.  I honestly don't know what the 500 Xiciting's will do I haven't taken them over 80 mph.

I haven't used GPS on any of my scooters but I have run them past those radar speed signs to check the accuracy of the speedometers.  My old Super 8 was off by more than 10%.  I figured 10% + 1 MPH too high.  I could get around 65-67 on the speed so that was probably an actual 57-59 MPH.  My Like 150i only reads 2 MPH high.  It will top out at 63-65 on the speedo so around 61-63 actual speed. 

The Speedo on my Majesty seems to read 5 MPH high.  I've seen 103 going downhill or with a tailwind!

My Kawasaki Versys actually reads 1 MPH low but Its been a long time since I did a top speed run on it.

Well now I know what my  Majesty will run,  which Versys do you have?  I have the 650.

I have a 2012 650 Versys.  I saw 113 on the speedo many years ago but that was before I put the Give bags on it and a bigger countershaft sprocket.  Since the speedo reads off the countershaft sprocket it now reads slightly low instead of high with a stock sprocket.
