Barber Vintage Motorcycle festival 2021
« on: October 12, 2021, 05:15:20 PM »
Yes its a Vintage Motorcycle Festival but I saw a lot more scooters there than I did Harleys.  Its a super cool event and a scooter is the best way to attend.  On site parking is free for bikes, not for cars.  That's the way things should be.

This year I rode to the event on Friday and Saturday on my Majesty.  Its about 115 miles one way mostly on the Interstate.  My majesty cruises comfortably at 75 MPH and will easily do 85+ if needed.  Once at the event I had plenty of storage for all my stuff.

I'll start out with some scooter pics.

Looks like the weather was kind to you too Klav!

A few days before this event we had torrential rains which made many of the grassy areas into mud pits but on the days of the event it was sunny and dry.  It was a bit hot in the sun but much nicer than previous years.

Some more pics.

There were quite a few vintage Harleys on display, but not bikes that most modern Harley riders would recognize.

Your photo of the Yamaha twin 90 brought back memories.  I had one that looked exactly like the one in the picture.  You here of old car shows neat to see the old bikes and scooters.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

This is much more than an old bike show.  Its a major event for the Southeast.  I spent two days there and if not for the 115 mile ride to get there I would have gone a third day.  The Barber Motorsports Park is a world class facility.

More pics.

Been to the Museum.  Its a really cool place but IMO doesn't compare to the sights, sounds and excitement of the Vintage Festival.  I'm not normally a crowd person but these are almost all riders and I even know quite a few of them so I actually enjoy the crowds.  The exception is when finding a nice place to watch the races a few jerks just walked up in front and stood there blocking the view for a lot of people.  So I moved my folding chair to a different spot and took a bunch of pics.

You can't see the speed and hear the roar of the racers going by in a museum.

There is a huge swap meet section with all kinds of stuff and bikes for sale.  The Motorcycle Alabama Forum which I am active in has a booth in the swap meet every year.  Members donate stuff they don't need any more and we sell it.  The profits pay for the booth as well as food and drinks.  Its a great place to hang out with shade, chairs and ice chests full of cold drinks and some food.

These pics were all taken in the swap meet section:

More swap meet pics.

This cutaway BMW has a hand crank and you can see all the parts move as you crank it.
