How many miles/kms on your 300?
« on: November 04, 2019, 09:50:41 PM »
Hi folks,

Just curious how many miles folks are putting on these bikes before having to do significant engine work.

Any thoughts or data on that would be nifty.

Thanks

Tromper

Hey Tromp, how's it going?
I bought mine new, now has a little over 15K miles. Love the bike. I do all my own maintenance. Just got a new belt but haven't installed it yet. Valve adj. is a piece of cake. No issues with it yet.
Scooter owned in the past, Honda Aero 125, '87 Elite 150 (2), '87 & '90 250 Elite, Yamaha 200, (2), 400 Majesty, Aprilia  Atlantic 500, Piaggio BV250,SYM HD200,  Kymco Yager GT200
Current ride, Kymco GTi 300

Thanks, I'm considering swapping the big burger out for one, just trying to figure out the how's & if it's a good move or not.

If the style suites you, the GTi is a great bike. Not the long haul bike that a B650 is but I would ride mine anywhere, coast to coast included. Will do an honest 84 mph and cruise at any legal speed limit. It's the only one of 14 scooters that I bought new and have put almost half of the 36K scooter miles ridden on it. It will outrun any single cylinder scooter out there except a BV350. Can't praise it enough.

I've got 26,000 on mine no trouble. I think bv350 is a better scooter but a lot more money and you can still buy it new.

I have owned a BV 350 and don't believe they are as reliable as the Kymco product. Niggling issues that are just frustrating and unexpected for such a great RIDING bike.

Pretty high praise, especially considering the impressive list of scooters you've had.
You ever get to ride a Cali Classic, love to hear what you think.
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

Heck figured I'd check in on this thread since I'm down one bike & looking.

Any updates folks, do these go 30k, 40k+ miles?

Cheers

I've owned an Aprilia scooter 250cc and it's not reliable as Kymco either.

I'm somewhere north of 18K miles on mine. Bought new in '13. I'm very happy with the bike as far as performance and have no plans to get rid of it. However, it hasn't been without issues of reliability. The oil seal on the rear axel somehow came out and covered the rear tire with oil. This seal is installed from the inside of the gearbox so required removal of the rear wheel and the entire transmission to replace. Also the oil seal on the water pump leaked. I'm fairly mechanical so was able to repair both. The pump seal was a royal pain to fix and I would not recommend it for the do it yourselfer.
