The Bottom of My Carb?
« on: October 31, 2021, 08:31:40 PM »
Finally got the carb out but what a hassle. There are a couple if electrical connections on the bottom I don't see talked about in videos. One has a flat connecter that plugs in, and then right next to it is a silver electrode with a wire that connects to it. Anyone know what they are?

If those two plugs are on a small item which is removeable by a 8mm bolt, than is a carb heating installed.
If those two plugs are on a black roundish plastic part, then it's the carbs throttle potentiometer.

any chance you can post a pic? Mine has 2 connections, the by-starter (electric choke) and the throttle position sensor...not sure what other connections there would be...

Those are both up high on the side. I had to unscrew both because I can't get to the connector plugs. I'm talking about 2 connections at the very underside of the carb.

@hawk, there are at least three different types of carb used in our KYMCOs.(what I saw until now)

- all are CVTs (constant velocity type/diphragm type)
- one with only electric bystarter
- one with electric bystarter and heat element
(middle pic, white and green cable fown there)
- one with electric bystarter and throttle body potio
(poti LH side down, socket upwards)

All three of them work fine with the right jets, though I didn't figure out what for this throttle body potenziometer should be good for.
Tell me what you think of...?

interesting..that's the first I've seen of a Kymco carb with a heating element. (my Helix carb has an odd way to heat the carb..a coolant line runs to it to provide additional heat)

Togger - are you able to take a pic and upload it?
