New helmet for the New Year
« on: January 05, 2022, 08:42:23 AM »
Rode out with my new HJC FG-ST helmet in freezing temperatures yesterday. A full report and photo will follow, but first impressions are very good, so much quieter than my LS2 and no misting with the Fog City visor insert fitted.

Good looking helmet !
Safer color!
I liked my first helmet...a white HJC modular in my goofy XXXXL size.
Nothing else in the  store fit.... :)

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

My last few helmets have been predominantly white Stig, mainly for visibility but also because they match the white Triumph!

As an aside, I know youre not an iPhone user Tom, but I'm hoping for help from another fourumista on this.  Since a recent iOS update (iOS 11?) all photos are saved to my phone (and iPad) as .HEIC files.  Is there a quick way to convert these to .jpg or other forum-compatible file types without resorting to a third party App?

nice looking lid, Neil! I'm also a fan of white helmets. I'm sure a new helmet has to smell better than the old one, right?  :o

Thanks Hawk.

Now that brings me to my favourite bit of riding kit.  Many years (maybe 30?) ago on holiday in the States riding from Colorado across to California I complained about the heat (ATGATT) to my American riding buddy.  At the next town we found a bikeshop (HD if I remember rightly) and he showed me a silk skull cap which you use under your helmet, first wetting it in the heat for cooling properties- I'm sure all you guys stateside are familiar with them.  Well here we are maybe 30+ years later and I still use it pretty much daily as it also keeps the helmet liner almost pristine!  It's been washed countless times and is still as good as new.  I'd love a replacement, but do you think I can find them for sale in the UK?  No.  Cotton, yes.  Silk, no.

I also bought a new helmet for the new year ! I had a Shoei Neotec for the past five years, replaced with the new Schuberth C5, very happy with it !!
