my '81 Vanagon had a gas heater. toasty warm, even at -30f at the expense of only getting 8mpg

I could keep the windshield clear on my '68 Beetle, cause I could reach where I needed with a scraper out the window, I had ok heat, just had to shut it off in the summer by taking the heater tubes out

I would like to find an old double cab pickup that I don't have to sell a kidney, to afford

Seen a used VW van on Craigslist.  They wanted 10k for a older van so they have went from basic transportation to a collectors item
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

Clean Samba's have gone for $100K.
Yeah, early beetles and busses can go for serious money!
I have a buddy in Dayton with 2 eatly VW transporters - a clean, unmolested early splitwindow camper, and a TOMS PEANUTS barn door kastenwagen - each worth a ton..

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

So far the new one leave me cold, not as cold as my bug in MN did, but pretty cold.

For me my several VW vans were road trip vehicles as well as practical haulers.
Fit 'em with a Z-Bed and away ya go.
The new ones just won't do that, electric's just don't have the range or ability to refuel quickly yet.
The day will come when this changes but I don't expect it anytime real soon.  Hopefully I'll still be healthy and young 'nuff to appreciate 'em when they do.
