Linked brakes might be my saving grace
« on: February 02, 2022, 04:35:42 PM »
Never thought this would enter the picture.  Due to my stroke I'm just starting to get some movement in my left hand and arm after 3 months.  If I can get my balance back and some limited use of my left arm  I might be able to ride a scooter someday. Linked brakes might compensate for limited grip in one hand.

Right now it's just a distant  dream, never say never.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

Back when I was selling motorcycles I had a customer who wanted to buy a big cruiser but had an artificial right leg and couldn't operate the rear brake.  The service guys rigged it so he could use the brake with a thumb actuated lever on the left handlebar.

I also met a guy who was paralyzed from the waist down riding a Kawasaki Ninja 1000 in the expert class of a trackday.  The bike had been modified so he could ride it and control everything with his hands.

Since a scooter starts out with less controls than a motorcycle it would be easier to modify for someone who doesn't have full use of all his hands and feet.

I hope you recover enough to ride again.

Klaviator, that's my future goal. It gives me something to shoot for.

One thing if/ when I get to the point of being able to ride I will never let work interfere with a ROMEO ride again. This has taught me life is short, do it while you can.

I will keep my Majesty and Ice-Burg along with my 3 Xciting 500's in shape for a  future return.

only dis- advantage linked brakes:   makes it hard to use rear as balancing aide.

Not a problem here - never mastered that. No longer even try.

Yeah, you just keep thinking about climbing back in the saddle...

I wonder if both front and rear brakes on all your PTW's (had to look that up RECENTLY since it was used here and I had no idea it meant "Powered Two Wheeler's!") are hydraulic? You see where I'm headed with this doncha?

Your correct Chiefs did it to themselves.  They even won the coin toss and blew it.

PTWs, yes.  Used to be used quite frequently this side of the pond, but seems to have been dropped altogether now. First use of it I’ve seen in nearly a decade!

During the game, I looked at my dog and said, "I hope a fellow named KK is not watching this! I'll explain later...let's get some more of your Milk Bone Trail Mix. This stuff is pretty good!"

An anecdote re. Kansas City ....one day I was thumbing a ride (as I hitched across the USA back in the 60's) along a highway near the Royal's baseball stadium....it was a distance away - and if memory serves - I noted that the field must be below ground level sort of. But the main thing I recall is that a semi truck coming at me suddenly lost his brakes or something and went ripping through some guard rails and then proceeded down into a low area and began to plow up sod for a few hundred yards! Pretty scary - but he got out and walked away....no cars involved. I'll never forget that!
