I love Vespas but, I`m put off by their small wheels.
Do you think they will ever go to larger wheels?.

I think you need to go with a Piaggio branded scoot to get the bigger wheels. The small wheels seem to be such a big part of the Vespa image.

A motorcycle will give you 17-18 inch wheels. If you are good with 15 inch wheels you can choose a number of scooters now available.
There are a very few exceptions in between.
Piaggio owns many brands of scooters and motorcycles. They produce Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, Aprillia, Moto Guzzi, Derbi, and Scarabeo.
So you have some choices.
If it's the style of the body work then you may be stuck with Vespa or something that is similar in design... and the 12 inch wheels which is the standard on that platform.
Another option would be the Kymco People S150 which has 16 inch front and 14 inch rear wheels. There are others as well like this.

Nope. After 75 years - they're not going to change.....and strong sales tells them that there is no reason to.

Piaggio branded but I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Liberty, or in this forum the People S150.
Both are available for popular prices at a dealer new you.  Pick one up buy a Vespa badge and stick it on.  Voila.

Vespa has a following, a loyal customer base, world wide. Why change anything that sells?

Want bigger wheels? Several suggestions have been made. This one is a little different: Kymco People GTi300 has 16" wheels (22" outside diameter with tires mounted). Kymco Downtown 300i has 13 & 14" wheels (22" outside diameter with tires mounted!). These two models are not made currently but may be found on the used market. Either one will out perform the Vespa 300 EFI bikes with a smoother ride, a more stable ride and better hill and speed capabilities.

The Denver, CO area has a slew of Vespa purists riding RESTORED two-stroke 4-speed Vespa/Piaggio steel body scoots with 12" wheels (I think) and a spare! These 250 cc bikes are powerful and handle the 5000 foot plus elevations well.
