Suggestions For Suspension
« on: November 04, 2010, 03:47:51 AM »
As a 250 pound rider on Illinois roads, I'm finding that the stock suspension is being overwhelmed. The only rear shocks I'm able to find are from YSS—a brand that I've never heard of. My normal go-to brand for the front, Progressive Suspension, doesn't seem to have a specific fit.

As I can't imagine I'm the first person to come across this, I'd like to please call on the collective experience of this board.

Any suggestions? Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Im not sure but I doubt if a shock absorber manufacturer would bother to set up production for only one brand or model scooter . Chances are there are many shocks that could be mounted on your p150 . Cross referencing sizes and chareristics will be a challenge . Good luck .

If spring rates and dampening don't need to be purpose built for a given cycle, that certainly opens up a ton of options. Thank you very much!

I'm going to let the parts guy at my local dealership, whom I trust completely, track down a compatible match.

I doubt you will achieve something. Scoots are not made for (us) 250-lbers.
I have P250S and have similar problems like you.

If you manage, by miracle, to fix rear suspension, the problems will carry over to the front side.

Obviously, if you ride only on flat highways, that is not the problem, but if you ride around twisties and on potholes, it is a different story.

My parts guy is look for fork spring manufacturers; I let you know what, if anything, he comes up with.

Have the rear shocks but, as expected, he came up blank on the fronts. Even included the option of replacing the front forks entirely, nada.

I guess I have all winter to search for an alternative!
