6000km checkup

Hello everybody, Hope you are all doing ok in this crazy world. As you can tell by the title I have just hit 6000Km; As of today I believe I have 6040Km, I am woundering when it is time to check my CVT belt as well as the components in the CVT. I read over and have been preforming maitinence according to my service manual and have noticed that it doesnt mention any information about checking the components in the CVT. Granted I have not opened the cover since I got the scooter with only 400KM.

Does your manual not say when to check/replace the CVT belt? Kymco calls it a "Drive Belt" in my manual. For the AK 550 replacement is scheduled at 20,000 Km with nothing about checking it before that. Don't know how it goes with the CVT on a smaller scooter, or if it is any different.

My 163CC Kymco does not specify a mileage for belt replacement - but it does ask that the CVT be inspected at your mileage.

So, yeah, at your mileage, it would be a good idea to open up your CVT and clean things up, (belt dust?), measure the belt for wear, look at the roller weights for flat spots, lightly groom the clutch pads and inside the bell, etc.
Me, if it isn't too expensive - and while you've done the work to open the belt cover - I'd replace the belt and rollers with new Kymco parts - for many more miles of worry-free, like-new riding with your new parts!! IMHO- few things make a scoot feel-ride more like new than new CVT parts!

Absolutely I’d open it up! At 6K KM or 3600 miles everything may be perfect….or you may find your clutch pads and inside of clutch bell are glazed or filled with clutch material dust. Belt may be like new or may be fraying…rollers may be perfect or they may have flat spots and the variator boss may be perfect or may not slide smoothly.

I guarantee you’ll find rubber or clutch dust in the case that would like to be blown out…

It’s a skill every scooter owner should have…the ability to open up the cvt case and remove the variator and clutch, if needed.
Of course I may be biased as I love to do this stuff…

I was planning on opening it up this weekend and having a looksee. We are supposed to have nice weather this weekend and it is my weekend off, Ill take a look Inside and see if anything needs to be replaced. Weird how kymco doesnt address this in their service manual.

Me too, I want my scooter to last as long as possible, I tend to do more maitnence than is needed for both my scooter and my car. Ill take a look at it this weekend, Im off work and it is supposed to be nice outside.
