I was thinking, "I need an umbrella!"
« on: May 03, 2022, 03:01:43 PM »
I agree with John - "don't stress test the belt - change it when manual says to!"
I ride in all kinds of unfriendly temps, times, places and weather.
So - I keep to the maint. schedule of my scoots.
Was thinking today as I motored along in a down-pour, "any kind of a stoppage out here on this 10 yr old scooter would be a bummer. It'd be very unpleasant waiting for rescue without an umbrella! - I should put one under my seat!"

Still dry out through town....

They're starting to lay down.......

Soon....

It always sounds worse on the Group W under this awning......

The blue dot is my shorts....

Everything gets a gentle wipe down at home.....

It was a good ride.
Stig

PS: don't forget to vote today....if they're doing that in your area.

I cast my vote today for the candidates that I think will disappoint me the least should they be victorious.

WaxShop works on the helmet, too.
But had to sit at a long light coming home in the heaviest part of it....started fogging up (even with the Pinlock in place), so had to open the face shield....and now rain beads are on the inside, too!

Another note : I passed over I-70 again. Watched all those vehicles driving in all that tire mist/spray. Huge amounts of it.
I could not imagine trying to ride a motorcycle out there at speed in that giant cloud of spray!

Nah Stig we're a day behind on voting here, it's tomorrow!  Then again, I voted a week ago  :D  (Postal Vote)

Now looking at your helmet and scooter beaded all over with raindrops Stig, I'm scolding myself.  It's a gentle rainfall here and I was just pondering putting off my errands 'til tomorrow so I wouldn't have to ride in the rain.  You're right though, I won't melt will I?  Time to test those waterproof Dainese gloves again...

Temp was @60°F, and my hands were pretty chilled by the time I parked the scoot at home....because my leather gloves were sopping wet.
I've yet to find any applicant which keeps my leather gloves dry. And the 'water-proof' textile "snowmobile" gloves were no better. They were so wet I could hardly get them off!
The goofy 3-fingered 'over-gloves' I bought were a joke...like wearing a bread sack.

Too cheap to buy $100+ gloves just for rain....but did invest in some custom drying racks.

Mine are sitting on the top case in the garage and should be dry enough for later.  Yes, it did pour down on my as I went about my errands, but when pondering WWSD* I just ploughed on and enjoyed the ride.  Today's weather looks sooo much better, sunshine, blue skies and dry tarmac.  Bliss.

* WWSD - What would Stig do - of course!
