(Gasp) I'm going to look at a car tomorrow
« on: May 22, 2022, 01:55:46 AM »
I have drove pickups, SUV'S, motorcycles and scooters most of my life with a occasional car thrown into the mix. My pickup and SUV are just to difficult to get into until I get more strength and dexterity.  Tomorrow a friend and his son are taking me to Derby KS to look at a used 2007 Lincoln Town car.

It might still be a little bit before I drive but I'll be ready when the time comes.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

Would not a Slingshot be easier in and out than a Town Tank?

I like the positive attitude and the assumption that you'll be driving again, soon! If you gotta ride in a car, might as well go in style.

The Town car has a large trunk for my wheelchair.  The control's on the left handlebar along with my grip and arm use would be a issue at this point. Down the road it may be a option to go on my much beloved ROMEO rides.

The other thing the Town car would allow me to bring my Collies. They enjoy travel as much as I. I will definitely get a UTV for all the trails up North, possibly next year.  I will keep my Excursion and F-350 pickup along with my small travel trailer, I can always sell them down the road .

My mental outlook realizes that there might be a possibility of some sense of function instead of wishing for death. I have come to the realization I will never return to normal but I can strive for functional. At this point I'm grateful for what I have.

I can't emphasize enough how precious life is so enjoy riding while you can, there comes a day when we all have to hang up the riding apparel.

KK,
"Powered by positive attitude!"
Regarding the Town Car....my parents drove their's between Florida and  Ohio for years.
Once, ran over a bicycle which suddenly dropped off a camper in front of them on I-75 in Cincinnati ....no damage to the Lincoln.
After my Dad passed, watching Mom park that 20' black Ford at a Florida restaurant.....reminded me of film I've seen of docking the Queen Mary.
Drove my Dad to his appointments in it several times. Nice car!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I drove a Grand Marquis for many years, the only Ford product I ever owned that went over 200k on the odometer. After paying attention to these cars as I do with any type that I own there is only one problem you should be careful of. Have it checked over good for upper ball joints. They seem to be prone to failure at a more than normal rate. I did really like that big boat, a deer finished it off.

(Follow up) I ended up purchasing the Lincoln. Very strange to just ride in a car you have bought.  Taking my therapy 3 times a week and putting in a mile on the NuStep everyday.

Thinking of all that served in the armed forces this weekend.
