Motorcyclist clocked at 147 MPH by Ohio State Patrol
« on: June 02, 2022, 12:52:19 PM »
caught over the Memorial Day w/e.
When stopped, he said, "I wasn't paying attention" so.....he didn't realize he was riding 82 MPH over the posted speed limit.
Would love to see the $$$ figures on that citation.....and his insurance premium.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

147!!!

37 years ago I had a Yamaha FJ1100.  One day I opened it up and saw 147 on the speedometer.  I was on a 55MPH deserted back road in Florida.  That was the fastest I ever went on a motorcycle.

I've never had a bike that will go quite that fast, 138 on my V-strom 1000, 126 on my SV650

I've actually been stopped for over a ton on my SV650, but always rode away with a warning, one memorable time on a Sunday morning ride group of 5, we collected at an intersection I was behind on my 650, everybody else had a liter bike, we booted out of there, I was up to a buck fifteen or so, the others were a half mile ahead or more. If I was going 115, they were going in the 150 range.......... in a 30mph zone warp 5  There was another stop sign in a mile or so where we collected again,  good spot to take a break, so our helmets start coming off. then the local town Chief of Police rolls in behind us.  Proceeds to lecture us "I know your dressed for it, but this ain't a race track, and YOU (pointing his finher at me) twice in one week, You were all going 85+ as you went out of my radar and I know you were going a hell of a lot faster than that, slow down," then lets us go with a warning, even me, having been warned by the same cop, in the same 30mph speed zone, (for 55 in a 30) earlier in the week

I did get one ticket on my FJ1100.  I was in a 55MPH zone in California behind two cars.  The second car pulled out to pass the first car and I pulled out and passed both cars.  I got it up past 100 briefly then slowed down.  A little later both me and the car that passed got pulled over.  I got nailed doing 70 in a 55.  A few seconds earlier it would have been a hundred.  I felt like I committed murder and got arrested for shoplifting ;D  That was back in the 80s when I was a lot younger.

Couldn’t tell you my fastest speed on a bike Klav as I’m always too focused on the road, but it was probably around 140 on the mountain mile on the IoM TT course on my T595. I’ve done many track days too back in the day, but the straights were too short for much over 120 mph.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

Good for you Neil,
Track days are the only appropriate place an adult will ride those speeds.

I don't pay attention to my speed much when I ride, but I do have a GPS that records top speed
