oil strainer cap

300 miles . just finshed changing oil ,rear end and cleaning strainer. would you believe the cap said ( gy6 ) on it . that is the name of all the chinese 150cc engines . wonder how many parts of our beloved yeagers where made in china. oh, well its only a cap. ike

I think a lot of design is shared between Asian scooter engines.  The Yager engine design is very similar to the two Yamahas I have owned.  Both had/have strainers in the bottom of the engine, and one has the filter element that goes in the side with a three-bolt cover.  That the GY6 "generic" Chinese engine and the Kymco might share a few parts wouldn't be surprising, or necessarily a bad thing.

gy6 is just a design designation. my Agility 125 uses a gy6. my guess is most asian scooters use a gy6 or a close variation of. it's not a bad thing, and doesn't have anything to do with the quality, or lack thereof,  of the engine or it's components. you can make a bad product anywhere, but thats really not the point

the point is, the fact it says gy6 doesn't mean anything to it's quality. its the most common engine design  in scooterland :)
