Kymco 450i UXV Diagnostic
« on: July 12, 2022, 04:55:02 PM »
We bought a three-pin to 16-pin kymco adapter for our OBD II reader. Our mechanic is pretty sure the ECU for our inherited 2016 450I UXV (131 miles) is bad. No spark but does crank. However he wanted to check the codes. However, the adapter end is wrong. I have pics but was having trouble getting them to post.

What do I need for the mechanic to read the codes? Do I need the 3620A-LEB2-E00?

I would check all fuses first, mine blew a fuse years back only to find the fuse block packed with mud and debris. Also check thecwiring connections to be sure they are clean. Hard to believe the ECU is bad already....

We checked, fuses, spark plug, wires etc. We are not finding anything obvious. There is no spark and the CLEP light does not come on when your turn the key for two seconds also. That is why we took it to the mechanic. Would like to see if any codes are being thrown.

These ECU's are pretty reliable. They are VERY picky about voltage to make a spark. Anything below 9.5 to 10 volts during cranking will NOT produce a spark. Not even a weak spark. No code for that.

New battery was installed. When we got the kymco it didn't even crank. Now we have crank but it will not start.

New battery was a step in the right direction. Now, testing must be done to either find the problem/cause or rule out certain items that may be the cause(s).

Have you checked the fuses as been mentioned? Do you have a multimeter?

Ordered ECU on 7/7 received 7/16. Installed and machine started right up. Thank you.
