Three Questions

Who has the most miles/kilometers on their original motor? (before a rebuild of piston, rings,valves,etc)
What kind and or brand of oil did you use?  How often did you change said oil? These are for us 4 strokers. Just interested.

My scoots only a year old so that doesn't count. My last motorcycle, a Yamaha XS650 had 56,000 miles on it when I sold it with no problems. I used Castrol oil, not the synthetic. Changed every 1,500 miles, give or take.

Well Word would be the hands down winner there.

Got his agility 50 through 54,000km before the engine went.  And he was pushing that engine hard the whole time and well over 30mph. 

When he get back online, he can give you the details, but I know he changed his oil quite often.

When Word's engine "failed" at 33K, what actually gave up?

I'm a long way from being a mechanic but that seems like a short life for a lightly stressed engine in an age of modern lubrication. I'm disappointed to hear that this considered to be exemplary. Oh well. . .

I guess it depends on what you consider lightly stressed.  After all, the engine is smaller than  a standard lawnmower engine and you have a 220 lb guy riding it at 45+mph at full throttle every day for 2 years. 

I wouldn't consider that lightly stressed, but that's just me. 

But I believe Word thought the problem was a low end bearing letting go.
