How many miles/km do you have on it?

Hi, have you looked for the obvious, ie. checking the spark plug for sparking, and fuel getting through?

The loud pop could have been a backfire, so maybe concentrate around a possible carb/fuel  issue.

Mine did that once after getting it back from the shop. Spark plug cap came off. The reason it was in the shop to begin with was the CDI had failed but was replaced under warranty. I had about 7800km on it at the time.
