Kymco AK550 Parts & Air Filter
« on: November 29, 2022, 07:47:27 PM »
Does anyone know of a good distributor for Kymco AK550 parts?

I've hit 6,000 miles, and can't locate an air filter (which Maintenance Schedule recommends).

I've hit 6,000 miles, and can't locate an air filter (which Maintenance Schedule recommends).

The service schedule in my owner manual shows that only inspection is needed at 6000 miles. Replacement at 12,000 miles.
I inspected the air filter at the 6000 mile service earlier this year and it was looking almost new so not sure I'll even need to replace at 12K miles.
Have you looked at your air filter?

Looked on Solano Cycle but couldn't find anything for the AK 550. I have called my nearest dealer (125 miles away) who said they can get the maintenance parts I need for my AK. I also recently ordered and received the CVT belt from Taiwan Big Scooter Shop. TBS pricing including shipping was less than the dealer price for the part I ordered.

They have a LOT of parts for the AK as well as other farkles to dress it up on their web store. Shipping for the belt I ordered took a little less time than they estimated. I wanted to get that ordered just to have on hand for when the 12,000 mile service is due. Only 3600 miles to go for that for me.
I looked and TBS does have the air filter for $15 plus shipping. Shipping wasn't too bad for the belt I ordered. Several of their listings have many parts related lumped together on the same web page and you use the drop down list box to select the part you want.

Here is a link to the service schedule in the USA owner manual. Other countries may have a different schedule so it helps to mention what country you are from.

Almost forgot to mention... I've found AK 550 parts on AliExpress also but the problem there is most of the parts are not Kymco authorized but equivalent replacement parts. I like staying with Kymco OEM for certain parts like belts and such. Though I might consider an equivalent replacement for an air filter... maybe.

The service schedule in my owner manual shows that only inspection is needed at 6000 miles. Replacement at 12,000 miles.

I had downloaded a service manual off the web, and it had indicated Air Filter replacement every 3,000 miles. I'd thought it was for the US, but -- after reading your post, I've since looked at the owner's manual that came with the bike, and it shows as you indicated -- air filter inspection at 6k and replacement at 12k.

I've got a way to go, but think I'll place an order for the belt and air filter from TBSC pretty soon.

I've placed one previous order with TBSC for the Key FOB kit they have, and in October 2022, it got flagged by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and they still haven't released it. TBSC has been communicative during the Customs hold, and I've written to CBP as well - twice - the response I received from CBP each time indicated to wait 45 business days before contacting them again (which I'll do in another week).

It's not as critical as a belt, fortunately, but given this experience, I think it'd be nice to have the belt and filter on hand, especially if there are any shipping delays or if Customs decides to flag my motorcycle parts again.
