AK 550 Keyfob not being recognized after swapping bike battery?

Took the battery out of the bike for a new one and now the bike doest recognize the key fob unless I put it on the pad on top of the right glove box.

How do I get the bike to recognize the keyfob again? Key fob batteries are good, does the same with both keys. I'm not even sure what the button does on the key fob itself?? Any ideas?

WELP!! I guess both Key Fob batteries going out the same time as my bike battery going out was a coincidence...

Figured out the button is just a battery check light 😂😂.
Replaced both with CR2450 and good to go!

Yep, you got it. Just had the same thing happen with my AK fobs 2 weeks ago. Both went dead at the same time. That's 'cuz the fob is "on" and operating ALL the time.
Also had that same thing happen to both the fobs on my Rav4 last year at the same time. My Rav4 is also keyless start.

And you also found out that button is only a battery condition indicator. When you press it the LED lights for an instant no matter how long you hold the button.

Also, putting the fob on the embossed emblem on top the right glove box will not work if the fob battery is good. The AK can sense if the battery is good and won't turn on from there unless the fob battery is dead or removed. That is in a way another indicator of a dead battery.
The fact that your bike turned on when you did that shows that the fob really WAS "working" with the bike after you swapped in the new bike battery, though with a dead battery. If there were a problem with the radio that recognizes the fob then that would not have worked either.

My new Honda PCX has the mechanical key, but have to admit if the key gets locked in the under seat bin, it looks like a chore to get it out. Also the gas lid is cable activated.

I like the keyless fob system.
No more fumbling for where I put that key and no key slot or older style ignition electrics to make it easy to steal (of course a smaller scooter would be easy to steal by simply picking it up and throwing it in the back of a pickup truck, a heavier bike would be a little more difficult). I like simply putting the fob in the zippered pocket of my riding pants (which I always wear) and never loosing it. And just like mentioned above there is more than one way to turn on a bike if there are any problems. If an actual key gets broken then there would be no way to overcome that. Had that happen once in an older car and needed to wait for someone with a spare to come to me. On the AK the gas lid is also cable released just like the seat is but the release cables are operated by a solenoid for both the gas lid and seat latches.

As to a key getting locked under the seat...
On the BurgmanUSA forum I've read of a few owners of the Burgman 650 who had the seat latch cable break due to water getting in the cable sheath and rusting the cable. On that forum there are several threads on installing an emergency seat latch release. This can be installed on any scooter or bike with a mechanical latch that locks a storage bin. A stainless steel cable is connected to the latch and the other end is hidden away somewhere under the plastic. If the key gets locked in the storage box then the seat can still be opened to get the key. I keep my spare fob in a RFID pouch locked under the seat and if I need it I use my emergency seat latch release to get it.

Nah, I'd take a slim metal key every time. Always works.
Last car I rented in Florida had this ignition thing the size of a Snickers bar - TWO of them, cabled together!
I grumped about it until I finally went into a hardware store - used wire cutters to snip it. Gave wife one to carry.
At the airport handed the National guy the two gizmos.

I do not need my scooter to start when I'm 15 ft away.....by shooting rays at it's antenna....(which also fail sometimes)

I'm old school too Stig, but I guess I'm going to have to get used to a keyless ignition as that's what the DTX360 comes with...
