Picture Display Size
« on: June 20, 2023, 03:14:15 PM »
Is there any way to control the 'display' size of an referenced picture (i.e. hosted on another web site).
The more I learn the more obvious the immensity of my ignorance becomes.

All that does is reduce the resolution of the picture. I can do that but it means having to produce and host multiple files of the same image.

I was able to post a resized copy of my photos here since they are normally just too big for this forum to accept at all. But I also didn't want to be making multiple copies of all my photos just for this one forum. My solution was to simply copy in a share link from my Google Photos since I already have them all loaded there. That way I can post a full sized version of the photo that automatically sizes for the screen. But the downside is that the actual photo doesn't show in the post... only the link to it. It still works for me and I haven't read any complaints doing it that way... yet.

If you are using Windows 10, the Photos app. has as a an editing tool in the header.  Listed under the,  ... , that allows you to resize you photo.

I think the preference here is to find a way to AVOID having to go through the hassle of resizing photos in the first place. I know I prefer to not have several sizes of the same photo. Backups are one thing but ending up with several of the same pic just to have different sized ones is not what I want to use up my storage space on. And it's not that I can't delete the resized copy but going through the effort to do the resizing is not how I want to operate. This forum is the only forum that won't take my photos directly as is.

I know that part of the problem with this is that this forum software is old and is not likely to be updated anytime soon... if at all. All other forums I am on have updated to easily handle photos sizes found from modern sources. Just not this one.

If you have a 2 megapixel camera you are good to go.
