Kymco People 150 fuel, carb, auto choke problems (2012 model)
« on: August 05, 2023, 04:45:51 PM »
Recently replaced carb and vacuum fuel petcock only to find problem still exists, only intermittently. Listing circumstances and problems:  Main problem seems like fuel cut off or too much choke while driving. After driving for several minutes where it seems like a hard fail is immanent the problem resolves by itself. On cold start this scooter typically performs best without any throttle on start.  Adding throttle seems to contribute to problems later.  I feel engine temp sensing may be part of the problem.  Auto (electric) choke is at top top of my suspect root cause. Recently while the problem was very bad while driving I stopped, let engine idle and upon resuming the ride it was resolved.  Sometimes while riding, very low throttle helps it work through the problem.  Lots of throttle is worse.  Asking for ideas to check and any other help.  Love this bike but at the end of my debug skills.

That definitely sounds like a carburetor/choke issue.  Total disassembly, cleaning (don't ignore the jets), check gaskets/seals, and maybe buy a new Keihin-type electric choke. Also check/clean the air filter.
