I went to my daughter's for thanksgiving, first time I've been to her new house, or rather "old" house, her boyfriend and her bought a burnt out 200+ year old shell of a house, chestnut post & beam. They were able to salvage a lot, took it apart, numbered the beams, and put it back to gather further back on the 40 acre property, not finished yet, but enough that they have certificate of occupancy, awesome workmanship and detail

Unfortunately, my son was not there, he had an operation at Dartmouth Hitchcock yesterday, he may be in the hospital another month, and I hope he sues the ass off Portsmouth Hospital where this all started

no photos, forgot my camera and don't have a cell phone, but will remember for next time I go over, kind of interesting semi-spiral staircase. Architecturally, I'd call it a tall cape rather than a colonial. Could be older than 200 years. about 40 years ago, I worked on a nearby surveying project, deed research led us to discover the area was developed by the mid 17th century, prior to the King's grants, when the town she lives in now, North Berwick, Maine, was part of Kittery, York County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. The visit, brought back memories of that project, THE most intensive deeds research I have ever worked on, 2500 man hours of which I personally did about 500

and another late Happy Thanksgiving Weekend from Iowa, where very tiny snowflakes are floating down...glad I got in a few rides earlier in the week when the temp was still in the 40's! Snow forecast for tonight but will melt quickly as temps are or will be above freezing.
