Can anyone confirm that the FI (fuel injected) Xciting returns better mpg figures for youz guyz?
Make sure you mention how hard you are on the gas and if it's city riding or outside of the city.

So, are you riding at 80mph on the interstate, or is it around town, or.. ?

I just filled up today.. got 42 mpg ... argh. I think my tires may need some from, at least I hope that's all it is.

Most of my riding is in town... stretches of 25 - 45 mph with few 55 mph+, except on the weekends. I have not had the scoot up to 85 mph.

In the EU the odometer must have <=4% divergency.
The last time I checked my MP3s odometer on the highway Munich<->Karlsruhe (265km highway with milestones every 0.5km) it counted 99.5km between 100km milestones.
Last time I checked my Xcitings odometer it counted only about 2/3 of the distance, speedometer was very low too -> garage.

I've seen up to 7,5l/100km on a local forum, from more then one owner, most were
in the 5-5,5l/100l range though.

time has passed since my first post on this subject, my speedo has been fixed and now reads correctly within +-2mpg  I have fitted a home made K&N filter,  and free flowing muffler ( although I cant keep the packing into it..another story). my FC is now settled at 55mpg imperial using 91 octane..the scooter is fuel injected, most of the running is up/down the freeway at 60mph with mad bursts to 75..our speed  limit is 60

I know that a scooter with CVT trans can't really be compared to a 500cc motorcycle as far as gas mileage-but I'll do it anyway. I've owned four 500cc motorcycles. First was my 1964 BSA 500 twin. But I never checked gas mileage in those days. So here's what the other three got: 1991 Kawasaki EX500 (Ni nja) averaged right at 65 mpg; 1982 Suzuki SP500 dual sport thumper averaged right at y65mpg; 2007 Royal Enfield 500 Bullet (true old time thumper) averaged around 68-75 mpg. The Enfield never touched a freeway as it is/was designed to run at 50 mph and really no more.

My 2006 HD XL883 Sportster gets 45-52 mpg.

I do think that generally speaking, a scooter and a motorcycle with the same displacement-the motorcycle will probably do a little better.
