The CDI is normally 8 pin and DC for the 4T kymcos.  Once that wire is removed and it takes away the rev limiter.
If you have a smooth boss, make sure you install the 82 jet as well.  This should get you to 60-65kmh

Mine is located next to the battery and looks like this one

Also I have found then when looking for 4T parts I use the Agility 50 4T as these are the platform that the newer Super 8s are based off of.

Hope this helps

If your Super 8 is fuel injected the ECU may be part of the Throttle Body much like this one from the Like 200i.

Looking online at the wire harness diagram and judging from the orientation of the various components, it looks like the CDI is located above or forword  of both the horn and the regulator/rectifier.  You're probably going to need to remove some tupperware to get there.

The unit on the throttle body is the ECU and the other pic is of the ignition coil. If you follow the larger cable on the coil it leads to the spark plug cap. The ECU also contains the throttle position sensor. Since the ECU controls ignition and fuel metering it may be difficult to modify your scoot unless an aftermarket manufacturer produces one. I know that even though the Like 200i is a very popular model no such aftermarket unit exists. I have seen a kit for scooter fuel injected models but it is very complex and expensive. Hi

Any conclusion on the whereabouts of the CDI? I have a 2020 Kymco Super 8 4T, and just like an earlier picture in this thread I cannot find any CDI box behind the battery. Anyone knows if the CDI is located somewhere else on the scooter, or if its a part (or replaced?) by the ECU?

After reading up on the Super 8 my plan was to derestrict to gain a few km/h so that my friends with other scooters arent faster (in their original!). I was thinking CDI and boss, but if there are no CDI I guess I will try just the boss

Thanks

After reading some more I understand that my version is KP10B/Super 8 50i. Guess that means no CDI and no simple way to gain a few km/s.
jameslee, I understand you also have the fuel injected one. You said your variator boss isnt restrticted, did you change to an unrestricted one or is it the original?

I have a 2015 4T

Here is what I did to get 70-75km/h (roughly 40mph) depending on the wind

Installed the smooth boss and upgrade the variator to a Polini Hi-Speed (6.9 gram rollers)
Installed 1000rpm springs (Torque and Clutch)
Installed Big Bore Kit (72cc)
Up jetted the carborator to 92 (comes with 80 installed)
removed the restriction ring in the pipe between the carb and motor
Installed Silent Pro exhaust (looking to upgrade more for looks)
cut the purple/red wire on the CDI (look this up on youtube even it is there.) to take away the rev limiter
Installed new gears (15/52 to 14/53 I think. It was one tooth difference)  Didn't get the extra top end above 70km/h till after I did this.

Hope this helps and shows you what kind of work goes into it.  The only thing I didn't install was the BBK  I let a mechanic do that.

This is all a great way to go.

A lot of my setup matches this one
I ground the collar off the variator boss on a bench grinder, made sure it slid smooth, slapped it in and it's been great since
I ran a 22mm carb, aluminum intake elbow.i  have the carb, elbow, and intake runner all port matched. I can fit a quarter all the way through. I have a 72cc big bore with the big valve no emission head, a9 cam, straight pipe.

Cutting the purple wire will give you power and more top speed, however it's still rpm limited with the stock cdi. I wired in an adjustable derestricted 6 pin gy6 cdi it's easy to do.

Big bore was like 60 bucks, cam was 12, don't remember carb price. Jet kit was a great purchase. Keep sizing up til you find the most power. Cdi is 16 bucks. Get the red spring for the Trans and maybe lighter weights in variator

Cdi and carb are gonna get you the most results
