Fuel for the venox
« on: April 19, 2012, 03:42:21 PM »
Hey guys looking like everyone is enjoying there season, with little to no posts. here is one for everyone to join in on and discus about the fuel we are getting!
i normally run till 250km per full top off regardless of the fuel light because i know if i push it i can go way over, plus its a good control on the settings and engine condition. just this last fuel up after 10km of riding something was different, bike will not rocket anymore and felt like it missed a cycle on one cylinder for a pull out of the lights and lower idle with difficult starts in the morning. was very frustrated, took it to the mechanic and the problem was bad fuel, even on a warm engine it did not fire up on a push of a button.
so guys watch out about your fuel, our bikes are sensitive! try to get the best pump every time and if you find one stick to it!

The highest octane we can get in New Mexico is 91, which I tried for a while last winter, but it felt a little better in the cold with the 86 octane.

Now that it's summer, I'll try the 91 to see if it runs cooler or better in the 100F heat. I'll add two ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil to keep the valves lubricated as well.

Yeh ditto ^

Been using the highest quality available (98 OCT)

AND I don't go to a no-name brand fuel station. I use Shell as #1 with their "V-Power" fuel 98% > then BP "Ultimate 98" > and lastly I would use Mobile's 98.

I avoid all 'ethanol added' fuel.
