Should I buy a new variator???

I am going to put lighter roller weights in my scoot to get some better speed up hills, but is there any benefit of getting a new variator instead of the stock one (like say a malossi variator)?

not realy no unless your older one is wore down at all. then its best to buy the variator kit and all.

what about like clutch springs?  Is there any benefit there?

IDK how many miles on your a50 but if it needs roller weights why not put new springs , clutch pads , and a new drive belt ? Pay once for parts and labor and have all new wear items . Good luck.

I replace all every 3 years but the weights more. if it has not been done in a while yes but it all depends on your budget dont go broke man hard times are here.

Yes indeed times are tight ! I don't do my own service work as I am mechanically challenged , so I discovered the hard way that it is cheaper in the long run sometimes to replace wear items all at once so I don't have to pay but once for labor . The only Kymco shop within 100 mi. of me has a standard $145.00 per hour shop rate .

wow you better learn to do your own with that price. I service mine once a year for a good look over.if it something I can do I well . there is a lot that I cant but hopefully it well stay out of the shop.I have learned alot just from this fourm on how to do things.

I ride a people 50 . I can change the final drive oil , change the spark plug , adjust the brakes , and inflate the tires . Beyond that Im pretty useless . Luckily it usually dosn't need much more , thank goodness .
